Garmin Forerunner 205
The Garmin Forerunner 205 has a radical design from previous generations of wrist mounted training devices. The simplified button layout is a breeze compared to some other GPS devices and it is so simple to setup and use that you will be up and going in a matter of minutes.
The main capabilities of the 205 is as a training device and as such can record and display an amazing selection of data, such as calories burned, distance, elevation, grade, and heading, as well as multiple lap and pace modes. The forerunner 205 however does not have a heart rate monitor. If a HRM is one of your requirements then go for the higher spec'ed (and higher priced) garmin 305 or even the top of the range garmin 405.

The 305 can be purchased from Amazon at the moment for approx. an extra 30 pounds I would recommend, if you can afford it, to splash out and get the added functionality of the 305.

(Alternatively if you are serious or simply if you love gadgets go for the full blown Garmin 405 )

We all know that the Garmin GPS do not come cheap, but you pay for quality - Garmin products are full of techinical innovations with cutting edge design - any other brand will be a disappointment. The Garmin Forerunner 205 GPS Watch is not ideal for everyone it is meant for people who do not require the additional functionality of an HRM. If this is required then go for the forerunner 305 (the one I use) or the forerunner 405 (on my wish list!).
